Vandaag is het officieel, Illbruck trekt zich terug uit de America's cup wegens gebrek aan sponsors.Dit zou de eerste maal kunnen geweest zijn in het 151 jaar bestaan van de cup dat Duitsland participeert in de America's cup.
Michael Illbruck de CEO van Illbruck deelde onse mede:"While it’s disappointing that we can not keep the team together for the next America’s Cup, we hope to find a long-term solution to challenge again some time in the future.
Deze beslissing om op 1 oktober niet aan de start te verschijnen in Auckland (NZ) zal volgens hem geen enkele impact hebben op het team dat nu in de Volvo Ocean Race Round the World 2001-2002 vaart en uitstekende resultaten behaalt.
